Golden Principles

Golden Principles of Tao Yin Arts as laid down by Proff. Chee Soo

1. Keep your body erect without stiffness.

2. Everything about you should be completely relaxed, especially the mind.

3. Maintain the heel and toe principles for all foot movements.

4. Connect and coordinate the upper and lower parts of the body.

5. Harmonise the internal and external physical aspects of the body.

6. Ensure that there is continuity of movement and that movements are circular and not in straight lines.

7. Learn to breathe deeply at all times and connect into the body.

8. Respect and follow the guidance of your instructor at all times.

9. Give way to force at all times, whether it be physical, mental, or verbal so that you cannot be uprooted.   Like a tree in the storm.

10. Never use physical strength, learn to use and harness your Ch'i.  This is your life energy force.

11. Dedicate yourself to the practice of the arts and practice with a feeling of exhilaration and relaxation.

12. Observe the discipline of bowing when entering the hall and training with each other.

Golden Principles of Hand of the Wind Kung Fu

1. Always endeavour to find a peaceful solution.

2. Feng Shou should only be used as a last resort as a means for self defence only.

3. Never harm another, whether it be in the training hall or the outside world.

4. Practise with humility as this will open you up to learning all aspects of the art.

Tao Yin Arts Safeguarding Statement

Tao Yin Arts is committed to teaching the Lee Family Style of internal Chinese Martial Arts (which includes – Hand of the Wind Kung Fu, Tai Chi Ch’uan, and Qigong) adhering to the 3 treasures of Taoism - compassion, frugality, and humility.   All classes will be taught with respect and integrity toward each other. Tao Yin Arts will ensure that each class provides a safe and harmonious environment where everyone can learn, develop, and thrive in the martial and health arts we teach.

At Tao Yin Arts we are committed to safeguarding children, young people, and adults alike, and we expect everyone who is part of our club to share this commitment.  Our instructors are enhanced DBS checked and certificates can be made available upon request. Our club takes all welfare concerns seriously and encourages children and adults to talk to us about anything that worries them. We will always act in the best interests of all.

For this reason, we have put in place safeguarding policies and codes of conduct for children, young people, and adults following the guidelines laid out in the 'Safeguarding Code for Martial Arts'.   Please find full details by clicking on the individual links to each document.
